ABSTRACTThe world has been reduced to a global village by the internet and other electronic communication interconnections, breaking the barriers of distance, communication gaps, traveling, etc.
With the internet, we can now make friends, acquaintances, meet business partners, keep in touch with families, fall in love, and other things too numerous to mention.
Pair Group as a group or better still (Family) is a social media-based platform on Facebook with over 56,000 members across the world, making it possible for people of different tribes, religions, and statuses to meet, interact, socialize, and share ideas.
INTRODUCTIONPair Group was birthed as Break Up and Make Up by Mr. Sorkaa Kelvin Fanen on the 25th of June, 2020.
The group was created to serve as a podium for fun and other social activities but as time went by, the creator had a vision of a bigger and more impactful community. That vision KICK-STARTED with a change of name from Break Up and Make Up to Pair Group, in May 2021. Pair Group advanced from just fun and social activities online to Pairing members (of the opposite sex) to meet with each other, familiarise themselves, share ideas, and exchange gift(s). The pairing of members is strictly to meet and exchange gift(s). It is in no way intended to promote promiscuity or sexual immorality among members.
Despite the fact that Pair Group does not promote promiscuity and immorality, in a situation whereby members who are paired happens to develop genuine feelings for each other and want to start a healthy relationship, Pair Group will gladly claim the credit of being their point of contact.
GROWTHThe journey that began on the 25th of June, 2020 with the Visionaire Mr. Sorkaa Kelvin Fanen as the creator and the first member has grown into a community of over 56,000 members within three years and we are just getting into top gear.
The rapid growth of Pair Group inspired the Visionaire to put together a team of Administrators that would help him to steer the affairs of the group effectively as it was becoming too much for him to handle alone. This team of Administrators have been supportive and instrumental in the growth of the group with ideas, suggestions, and contributions from the Team of Administrators.
Pair Group has been doing more than just pairing members for a gift exchange.
ACTIVITIES1. PROMOTION OF PEACE, LOVE AND UNITY
-Help people to build connections with others and improve their mood.
-Pairing:This is done by asking members of Pair Group to drop their pictures and location and then the admins will pair people according to their location, which makes it easier for them to meet and exchange gift(s).
The aim is to foster unity and create an opportunity for members to make new friends and also share ideas.
It will also interest you to know that the Pair Group family has produced couples through its pairing activities. We will always caution any member that violate the rules of Pair Group.
2. JOB OPPORTUNITIES When there is a job opening or opportunity, the Admins post it to the group for members to apply. Hundreds of Pair Group members have gained employment through this platform 3. CHARITYWe try our BEST to lend helping hands to people who are in need: sick people, less privileged, and internally displaced people have benefitted immensely through our charity works.
In December 2022, Pair Group family was able to put together thousands of clothes and shoes and the sum of five hundred thousand Naira (NGN #500,000) for charity.
These monies were used to buy relief materials for the orphanage and the IDP camp in Makurdi. The Pair Group family under the leadership of Sorkaa Kelvin Fanen and Chairmanship of Amos Brotherly Chia paid a visit to Divine Charity Orphanage Children’s Home located at Akpehe, Makurdi, and IDP Camp, located at JOSTUM Road, Federal Housing, North Bank Makurdi on the 29th of December to distribute the relief materials put together by the Admins and members of the group.
4. SKILLS ACQUISITION AND TRAINING. We liaise with individuals who have skills to train members of the group who are interested in learning their skills and it has helped tremendously to make some members independent. 5 . EMPOWERMENT.Members of the group and the general public who are philanthropists have been using the Pair Group platform to empower members to start or boost their small-scale businesses.
6 . HANG OUTThe Pair Group Management once in a while organizes hang out for members and Admins to meet with each other, have fun together, familiarise, make new friends and business associates, share business ideas, etc.
The aim is to foster unity and increase bonding between members and admins.
